Louise Bruce – The Baker’s Daughters
‘The Baker’s Daughters’ is the true story of Henry Allen, the Baker from Berrima, who lived in the Stone House in the late 1800s, the house that I now live in.
Henry and his wife had two young daughters, Gwyneth and Edith, who tragically drowned in the Wingecarribee River that runs behind the property. This event devastated their family and the small community of Berrima.
I live in the beautiful Southern Highlands village of Berrima, NSW.
I have been singing and gigging for the last fifteen years with jazz band ‘Ellas Holiday ‘. I have always been content singing and interpreting Jazz Standards.
In the last 5 years however, I picked up my guitar and started writing songs.
I recorded these tracks with guitar and vocals only, they then languished on my laptop for the next few years. I decided to share them with my muso/co-worker friend, Stewart Harrison. With Stews production and multi instrumental contribution and other guest artists featuring on a few tracks, Stone House Stories came to life.
This is a collection of Intimate stories of my friends and family and of my own life experience.
