Graceland Gun Club – The Golden Age of Cocaine
Graceland Gun Club consists of Hank Montana on vocals and Chuck Manhattan handling songwriting, along with a rotating studio band that sometimes includes some of today’s top Americana players, such as Phil ‘Juggernaut’ Doublet on guitar and Kevin ‘The Hammer’ Emmit on drums.
The St. Louis Chronicle, in their article “Top 10 New Bands,” stated, “G.G.C. is possibly the most important band of this century… and has not only restored my faith in music but also my faith in God.”
Central to their sound is their old-school recording process. Contrary to the modern cut-and-paste method, their songs are recorded in single takes without overdubs.
The song ‘The Golden Age of Cocaine’ is an ode to recovery and carries a subtle anti-drug message.
