Phil Golotta – Put Up A Tent In Tamworth

The song “Put Up A Tent In Tamworth” came about as a result of one of my bucket lists, which was to attend the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2013.
I was amazed to see a busker about every 10 yards performing in the main street and then in the clubs you have country stars like Lee Kernaghan and Beccy Cole just to name a couple. Also there are Top Country Bands in every pub and in the mornings there are poet’s Breakfasts where bush poets recite the works of Banjo Patterson, Henry Lawson and many others.
All the artists try to win the Golden Guitar in their chosen categories, the most prestigious award in country music.
The town swells by 45,000 people so accommodation is at a premium so many people sleep in tents in the park and on the local footy grounds. It is all this that inspired me to write the song “Put Up A Tent In Tamworth”. I hope you enjoy it, Phil Golotta.
Phil has a long history of achievements being the former Lead Singer of legendary show group “The Blue Echoe’s from 1962 to 1983 gaining platinum and gold status with 2 albums the group recorded.
Amongst many other achievements, Phil is an award winning songwriter which includes “Hitch A Ride On A Smile” which was recorded and became a big hit for Jamie Redfern.
