Chris Callaghan – How Proud Are We

The song How Proud Are We was inspired by Kieran Perkins when he won gold in the 1500-meter swim at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. The commentators had written off his chances and were still talking him down until about halfway through the race when he started to bring it home.
Although 24 years have since passed it remains a vivid memory and an important reminder that with commitment, hard work and determination, it is possible to achieve our goals and dreams against all the odds.
