Tony Kennelly – Water Rising
In Australia we are use to natural disasters. Droughts and Floods are not uncommon but in February of 2022 the floods of eastern Australia in particular Lismore and the Northern rivers was devastating.
Myself being a retired farmer know to well of these devastating impacts on our country.
A short brief recent history of my wife and I.
We sold our cattle and sheep property in the Walcha region of the Northern tablelands in 2021 and moved to the coastal area of Port Macquarie to have a early retirement also to enjoy life A bit after years of drought.
In 2022 we had never seen so much rain fall in such a short time flooding our district. My heart fell as I watched in horror Lismore going under not once but twice in the same year.
So as songwriters do I put pen to paper with tears in my eyes and wrote Water Rising.
There is no need to explain what the song is about, it speaks for itself.
So there you have it. If it brings a tear I’m sorry but was a story that had to be told in song.
