Craig Woodward – Emotionless

Emotionless is a song in three parts. Inspired by the death of two of my childhood and teenage musical influences Jeff Buckley (USA), Michael Hutchence (INXS). The third influence came from the heartbreaking news of my close friend’s son who tragically passed away from health complications at the age of 3 months.

The later news and irreversible pain my close friends and family went through at that time stuck with me, pouring out of my soul the day after his funeral into the ‘emotionless’ tribute with skeleton lyrics and a rough melody/chorus in 2007’.

At the time my musical brother Mat Sly from (newstone) my first country/pop/rock original band crafted the opening guitar hook and verse structure and collaboration on the chorus. The final bridge section was completed by me in 2023’ and ‘emotionless’ came to light.

The song is a prayer and reflection of hope that we will ultimately see these loving souls again in another life or when we pass.
The song is also for anyone who has lost someone close to them.
So, hold onto their spirit and be comforted in knowing that one day you will be re-united in lasting peace free from this broken world.
