Ashley Cook – Bilo’s Going Strong

Award winning bush balladeer, Ashley Cook, releases his second single this year. As one of our nation’s leading balladeers, Ashley has delivered a string of hit singles in a career which has stood the test of time, propelling him to the forefront of his genre.

“Bilo’s Going Strong” celebrates 100 years since his hometown was gazetted and as the locals of the region celebrate this milestone in 2024, the humble storyteller delivers a heartfelt performance on this song written by longtime family friend, of over 25 years, Shaza Leigh.

The song depicts the easy-going lifestyle of the central Queensland town, Biloela – meaning Cockatoo and highlights the main industries which have forged the highly successful community. Ashley along with his wife and all their family still reside in the region. They have always treasured the friendships and associations that have been the foundation of their life in this wonderful town.

The entire cast of musicians playing on this track have regularly visited and performed in Bilo and are honoured to be part of the 100 year celebrations along with Ashley.

Congratulations to Bilo on reaching 100 years and we salute Ashley Cook for following the traditions of his counterparts like Tex Morton, Buddy Williams and Slim Dusty, preserving our nations history and celebrating our Australian heritage.
