Kevin Sullivan – Spend The Kids Inheritance
Kevin wrote “Spend The Kids Inheritance” after meeting so many grey nomads while on tour. The common thread in countless conversations was how they were rewarding themselves and more importantly not feeling guilty about investing in their happiness and a long and happy life.
Whilst Kevin’s initial thought process was of retirement, the song became so much more. People of all ages are now realising that we need to get out there and really start living. If the past 18 months has taught us anything it’s that we need to think differently about how we live.
Kevin adds, “The song is almost an anthem to the grey nomads and those living every second. When I sing this song LIVE, everyone in the audience gets it; they cheer, particularly the retirees, they nod and say, ‘yes, that’s what we are doing’.
The vibe of the song is set right at the outset, when you hear the ukulele in the intro playing setting the tone with a cool chilled vibe.
I even had one person tell me how he said to his grown up children, “I just bought a SKI holiday, with one of his sons saying, I didn’t know you liked Skiing Dad, to which he replied, I don’t I am Spending The Kids Inheritance”.
