Ronnie & Johnny – The Bondwood Van
Johnny’s dad was an itinerant worker who travelled with the family from place-to-place following jobs as a machine operator. This song tells the story of the van they lived in. Every time another baby arrived his dad would build another bunk in the van.
It was really just a box on wheels held together by nails that would get shaken loose on the corrugated dirt roads and his dad would have to bang them back in. So, the hammer was a vital piece of equipment.
Johnny still has a love affair with driving holidays and caravans. We think he is just a gypsy at heart.
