Peter Coad OAM – Long Way Round
Written by Peter Coad, ‘Long Way Round’ is from a forthcoming album.
Peter says, “The idea came about when I travelled the ‘Long Way Round’ from Hawker down to Quorn in South Australia via a seldom used dirt road which takes you through station country west of the Flinders Ranges and the bitumen road, and would have been a main access for folks travelling north.
I passed the grave of pioneer Hugh Proby, and I drove through a onetime thriving farming community, now just abandoned farm houses, and old machinery left to fade into time.
The rusty gates I opened along the road had seen both people and history come and go on the ‘Long Way Round’.”
