Terry Bennetts – The Dinner Tree

The Dinner Tree is my second single and the title track off my new Album.

This song is written and dedicated to our old mate Sam Lovell a well-respected Aboriginal Elder from Derby WA and one of the last of the Kimberley drovers.

We sat by the beautiful old Boab named The Dinner Tree as Sam told of his early droving days when he and his mates would bring 500 bullocks at a time from surrounding Stations to be loaded onto ships in Derby.

While they waited for high tide the cattle would spread out to feed and the drovers would all gather beneath the Dinner Tree, boil the billy and cook up their tucker.

This is their story.
