Cathy Dobson – Mediocreville

“Mediocreville” is the title track of my latest album “Living in Mediocreville”, and the third single release.

I came up with the name of “Mediocreville” for a town because I wanted it to be a town that could be anywhere. It’s a town that you want to go home to, where the familiarity and predictability make you feel safe and secure. Some may call that boring, but that’s what makes home “home”, and makes it your home.

I have always loved the storytelling styles of “Ode to Billy Joe” and “Harper Valley PTA’ and I think producers Damian Cafarella and Lachlan Bryan have channeled that feeling perfectly. Damian and Lachlan played all the instruments for the song too, recorded at EOR studios in Edithvale, Melbourne.

I am really happy with the way the story was resolved and came full circle, like a life cycle.

“Medicreville” is my favourite track from the new album, and I hope it becomes one of yours too.
