Peter Coad OAM – Kidman’s Men
From Peter’s first professional performance on the Bob Fricker Show at the Hawker Town Hall, South Australia, 1961, to music releases as Coad Bros in the 70’s and 80’s, Peter continues writing, recording, and performing songs about characters, people and places.
“My sister Virginia wrote ‘Kidman’s Men’, and I added the melody and a few words here and there. Coad Sisters did the backing.
My Great Uncle worked for Sir Sydney Kidman when Sir Sydney owned Wilpena Station in South Australia, and he of course met Sir Sydney Kidman personally and passed on stories of that early time to me.
Virginia’s storyline from the view of a young stockman working as one of Kidman’s men therefore resonated with me,” Peter said.
