Sherrie Shines – I Still Miss Someone

“I love sunshine, sunflowers, and my name is Sherrie—because my mother loved it.”

Sherrie grew up on a farm just outside Dubbo, in Central NSW. Her father owned Sandy Hill, a well-known riding school where he taught horse riding and hosted rodeos, often attended by the legendary Slim Dusty. From a young age, Sherrie was immersed in country music, falling asleep at night to the familiar voice of Slim, which became the soundtrack of her childhood.

Now an independent country music singer-songwriter, Sherrie is carving her own path with the support of her partner and manager, John Mewburn. Together, they are building her career under the banner of Sherrie Shines, bringing her heartfelt music to a growing audience. Determined to create something special, Sherrie and John travelled to Tamworth, the heart of Australian country music, to record with one of Slim Dusty’s legendary guitarists, the multi-award-winning producer Lindsay Butler OAM.

The recording session featured an impressive lineup of musicians, including young guitar prodigy Anthony Baxter and seasoned session artists Shaza Leigh and Peggy Gilchrist. Her latest single, I Still Miss Someone, holds deep personal meaning. Sung straight from the heart, the track is a touching tribute to her late mother, Fay—her best friend and greatest inspiration.

“I will always miss her blue eyes and the warmth of her arms around me,” Sherrie shares. Through her music, she keeps her mother’s memory alive, embracing the legacy of love, family, and country music that shaped her.

With passion, authenticity, and a deep connection to her roots, Sherrie is shining brighter than ever.
