This idea for this song came from the stories told about one of Ronnie’s uncles who joined up to fight in 1939 and kept his slouch hat ever since. He served in the jungle and the desert along with 2 of his brothers. Fortunately, they all came home.
This uncle was important in Ronnie’s life. He had given her a pony and Ronnie actually nursed him as a first year nurse after he suffered a heart attack.
It was a different era, but Ronnie and Johnny believe the slouch hat is still a powerful symbol of Australia.

Johnny has always been a big potato eater. It is one of his favourite food groups. On this occasion he ordered a chicken schnitzel with chips and gravy and then went to the buffet section. Well, there was baked potatoes, so he added them. Then there was potato bake so he added that as well. Finally, there was potato salad which he could not go past!
In addition, there were other salad items until the plate was piled high. He manfully finished it all but, on the way home, had to undo his belt to relieve his discomfort!

When retelling this story to a friend, Ronnie was advised that she should get Johnny some buffet pants for their next visit.

Keely Johnson – Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time was written by the legendary Christy Sutherland in Nashville and Keely Johnson.  The song is based on their version of a fairytale.  Not all princesses find their knight in shining armor. This princess in once upon a time finds her prince in a cowboy hat and old leather boots.
