Billy & The Bandits – 36 Pennies

“You’ll need a gold one when the Devil Comes for you…”.

Billy & The Bandits new single 36 Pennies follows the story of a cowboy who when confronted by the Devil is required to pay his dues. His past is catching up on him. And run as he might, there’s just no escaping it. Unless of course he has that gold one to the side.

Originally written on banjo (mind you with a missing string) the song quickly developed to include pumping kick drum, heavy electric guitar, timpani, and even a three-part string arrangement. Blending sounds of raw western county with an almost film or orchestral like flavour. It is certainly unique, but it all works together to tell the excellent story of 36 Pennies. From upcoming album ‘Black Hills’

Billy and the Bandits was formed in early 2018, with lead singer and songwriter Billy Hazye and guitarist Chad Penfold. The pair write, record, and produce their own music which explores many styles of country. From ballads to swamp blues, western and of course country rock. The Bandits can do it all.

If you like narrative driven song writing, they have a song (or two) for you!
The group regularly perform at venues around the Central Coast. Playing venues such as The Central Coast Leagues Club, The Coast Hotel and The Entrance Leagues Club to name a few.
Not only does Billy love performing and writing, he also loves presenting on community radio. Helping local artists and local community members be heard is his passion.
The Bandits aim to keep writing and producing music to help spread country music around Australia.
